Generation 1 iPod (G1)
• Apple iPod 5GB and 10GB
The G1 iPods have a firewire connection on the top edge, next to
the head phones jack and hold button. The G1 iPod also has solid
control buttons around the direction wheel edge (play, menu,
next, previous). The direction wheel on the Generation 1 iPod
manually turns.
Generation 2 iPod (G2)
• Apple iPod 10G
The G2 iPods have a firewire connection on the top edge, next to
the head phones jack and hold button. The G2 iPod also has solid
control buttons around the direction wheel edge (play, menu,
next, previous). The direction wheel on the Generation 2 iPod
works by touch.
The cradle WILL NOT hold the Apple iPod 20GB (G2) with Firewire
connection, as it is too thick for the cradle.
