chargeGUARD
CG-10 system includes: chargeX: a solid-state on-board
charging unit CG-25: a multi-function monitoring
system
The installation is quite simple. Only two
connections are required: one each to the
battery posts!
chargeX
- 100% solid-state charging unit mounts on
the battery, or nearby with the use of a
strong adhesive. Dimensions are 1.5" x 2" x
.75" (about the same size as a pack of gum).
chargeX
uses a technique known as Pulse Width
Modulation (PWM) to charge a battery. If the
battery voltage is low, more power is
supplied to the battery. As the voltage
increases to the fully charged condition,
the amount of power supplied to the battery
decreases and turns off completely
when the battery is fully charged.
The Multi-mode Display of the
chargeGUARD
shows amps, volts, ambient temperature, and
a warning sequence for freezing conditions.
Amps, volts, and temperature are displayed
numerically and in bar graph format. The
ambient temperature can be displayed in
Fahrenheit or Celsius. All modes have large
enunciators showing what is being measured.
The monitoring system includes an Ice
Alert warning as standard. If the
outside temperature approaches freezing
conditions, backlight changes to red color
and the word "ICE" is animated on the
display. This feature is automatic, and
works even in the volt and amp modes.
The use of bar graphs on the display gives
the rider the information they need at a
glance. For nighttime riding the backlight
will automatically dim to reduce glare.
Motorcycle batteries are small, but the
electrical load of lights, heated apparel,
GPS system and other accessories keeps going
up. On some models, expensive Gel-cell or
AGM batteries are necessary. On other
models, high output alternators are
required.
chargeGUARD CG-10 will monitor
the charging system and maintain your
battery.
