StarCom1 Faq's

Q  What cable should I use for the Garmin Zumo?

The CAB-55 is fine running into the phone socket but only allows  mono sound from the MP3 player.

An alternative is MIC-01  which plugs between starcom1 phone socket and

Zumo Mic socket and MUS-04 which runs between Zumo Audio out and  Starcom1 audio in. This provides stereo from the MP 3.

Q  Wind Noise

Wind noise should not be an issue.

wind noise check the following.

1) mic sensitivity should be set to 80% clockwise.

2) volume should be set to about 25% 3) Speakers should be directly in line with the Ear canal.

 4) Microphone should be central to the mouth, pushing onto the lips.

No Air Gap)  If boom microphone silver line should face the mouth (as  this is mic input)

We also find that the outer foam is not necessary if the mic is  correctly positioned and facing the correct direction. To put an extra foam on effectively reduces wind input but pushes the mic further away from the lips.

Q  StarCom1 Will Not Power Up

Is good DC power connected?

Is The helmet speaker installed? And connected to StarCom1

Is the Helmet connected to the Driver side of starcom1?

StarCom1 Digital (new unit over the Advance)

REM-01 (remote for entire controls for Advance)

CAB-55 (Zumo to StarCom1 cable, gives music in mono (but in both speakers) allows good communication of GPS instructions and phone connection via Bluetooth, will also carry music from Zumo's MP3)

MUS-04 + MIC-01 ( these are 2 cables as an alternative to the CAB-55for the Zumo, gives true stereo sound for music, however disadvantage is that the VOX on the StarCom1 unit must be turned off as mic can not mute music, MUS-04 is plugged into AUX on StarCom1 unit.  Zumo has an inbuilt VOX that can be used to mute music instead.)

Q  Can they make an adapter to use my StarCom1 headset on my Harley Davidson

In other words, an adapter that you can use to plug a starcom1 PP-04

A  Unfortunately, no we do not have adaptors between Goldwing/Harley and StarCom1 headsets.  This is because the mics on our starcom1 headsets are Electret and the Goldwing/Harley headsets are Dynamic, so they are not compatible.

However, we have just made a special Goldwing headset in the last week or so called PP-004G /PP-006G which is the Goldwing version of the starcom1 PP-04/06, this mic can be used with any plug phone speakers also

A Great Review on StarCom1
