Thinking of Cooler Weather: Why a Full-Face Helmet Makes Sense as the Weather Cools Down

Posted

Today Mother Nature treated us with a day of cool temperatures - much less than the norm!  While we know it will warm up again as it's just August, today is a glimpse of the Autumn days to come!  And a good time to start thinking about why a full-face or modular helmet makes sense on cooler days.

As the weather cools down, a full-face helmet becomes more than just protective gear—it adds real comfort to your ride.

First off, it keeps the wind off your face. Even a short ride can feel twice as long when cold air is blasting you at highway speeds. A full-face helmet helps block that chill, especially around your nose, ears, and neck.

Then there’s the warmth factor. Most riders don’t think much about body heat loss until it starts to happen. A full-face lid helps you retain that heat, keeping you more comfortable and alert on the bike.

Let’s not forget weather protection. If you’ve ever been caught in a surprise drizzle or hit a swarm of bugs in 50-degree weather, you already know how much a visor can help. No stinging wind, no watery eyes—just clear vision and a smoother ride.

And here’s a bonus: full-face helmets also cut down wind noise. Less fatigue, better focus, and a more enjoyable ride overall.

If you’ve been wearing a half or open-face helmet all summer, this might be the time to make the switch.  Another reason to consider -- many helmet models are being discounted as next year’s versions start to roll in.
